The truth as it is.....

I am not Gay!!

I really wanted you to have a rethink, hence, the title.

The Homosexuality bill has since enjoyed so much attention from local writers, activists, religious leaders and even the international community.

While I must admit my personal dislike for homosexuals, how do you explain running after a man like me when there are very many ladies to pick from? Let this not sound like I am a flirt, NO!, I just haven't been able to understand why or how people become homosexuals. Understandably, every man has a right to choose a path to thread but we also shouldn't forget there are boundaries whether as set by natural laws or our religious cum cultural inclinations.

I have argued that the problems rocking our nation are far pressing than the homosexuality bill; I would have loved to see the FOI bill for instance go at such amazing speed.

That said, I must atleast commend the lawmakers for pretending to have a stand and going ahead to defend it, whether or not it is in the right direction is yet another seminar discourse. I am particularly happy at the reaction of the senate President, David Mark, when the US government decided to threaten removing aids given to Nigeria if the criminalisation decision is not rescinded. I also join in saying they can go ahead to remove it.

Another angle to view it from is whether those making the law are not as guilty as the rest of the homosexuals around town. If they are, the bill might just be a way to say, do what you have to do but make sure you are not caught. I also find the argument supporting the bill a little shortchanged. Homosexualism isn't part of our tradition, yes, I agree. Is stealing, ritual killings, embezzlement etc part of it? Our law makers should be all round in correcting the ills of this land.

This is just a little insight into my overall position, I would be updating my blog shortly with my full position.

Regards.
